Yes, my name is Alexa and, before you ask, I cannot set your timer or tell you the weather. What I can do is help you find a home you actually love in Northern Virginia, and that feels like a pretty fair trade.
I’m the REAL Alexa Sachs, a licensed real estate agent with Compass serving Loudoun County and Fairfax County, Virginia. I work with buyers and sellers who are ready to put down real roots, whether that means buying their first home or selling their starter home and stepping into something that fits the life they’re building now.
I grew up in Northern Virginia and watched this area evolve in real time, from the rise of master-planned communities in Loudoun, to the Silver Line extension, to the way towns like Ashburn and Leesburg have completely transformed over the past three decades. This isn’t just where I work. It’s home.
A Background Built for This Work
Before real estate, I spent over a decade in communications and public relations, including as Vice President at FleishmanHillard, one of the world’s leading PR firms. I hold a Master of Professional Studies in Strategic Public Relations from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies from George Mason University.
That background shapes everything about how I work. When I list a home, I think like a strategist: how to position it, how to tell its story, and how to get it in front of the right buyers. Strong visuals, sharp copy, and targeted outreach are not add-ons in my process. They’re the whole point.
When I represent a buyer, that same instinct kicks in. I know how to frame an offer, read a situation, and advocate clearly on your behalf in a market where how you show up matters as much as the number on the page.
More Than an Agent
I’m also the co-owner of Winding Creek Farm, a wedding and private event venue in Lovettsville. Owning a venue means I show up for people during some of the biggest moments of their lives while managing a hundred moving parts at once, making it all feel easy for the people I’m serving. Real estate clients get that same energy, just with fewer flower arrangements.
I’m also a real estate investor with experience in both short-term rentals and primary home renovations, and I bring seven years of hands-on renovation experience to every buyer consultation. If you’re eyeing a fixer-upper or wondering which updates will actually pay off at resale, I’ll give you a straight answer.
A Track Record Worth Knowing
I’ve been recognized as an NVAR Top Producer by the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors with over $20 million in closed sales volume, and named to the Washingtonian Top Team list by Washingtonian Magazine. Those recognitions matter to me because of what they represent: clients who felt taken care of, deals that closed cleanly, and people who found a home they genuinely love.
How I Work With Clients
I’m a project manager at heart. I love a clear plan, I don’t like surprises, and my clients always know where things stand. Whether we’re navigating inspection negotiations or waiting on a title report, you’ll hear from me before you have to wonder.
I work with buyers and sellers across Loudoun and Fairfax counties, including communities like Ashburn, Leesburg, Brambleton, Broadlands, Reston, and Herndon. I’m also licensed in West Virginia and serve clients in the Eastern Panhandle for those who want to stretch their budget while staying within reach of Northern Virginia.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I look for in a Northern Virginia real estate agent?
Local expertise, strong communication, and a clear strategy for your situation. In a competitive market like Northern Virginia, you also want someone who knows how to write a compelling offer, read a neighborhood’s pricing patterns, and get a home ready for sale in a way that actually drives results. Ask how they’ll market your listing, how they handle multiple-offer situations, and whether they genuinely know the neighborhoods you care about. The answers will tell you everything. It also doesn’t hurt when they know a lot of people in this area, like me!
How does buying and selling a home at the same time work in Virginia?
It’s one of the most common situations I help clients navigate, and it’s very manageable with the right plan. The key is sequencing: understanding your timeline, deciding whether to buy or list first, and building in contingencies so you’re not stuck owning two homes or scrambling for somewhere to land. I walk every simultaneous buy/sell client through a clear plan before we take any action. It sounds complicated until you have a map in front of you, and then it usually makes a lot of sense.
What’s the difference between buying in Loudoun County versus Fairfax County?
This is a question I love because I’ve lived on both sides of it. I used to live in Reston, which is in Fairfax County, and now I’m out in Loudoun, and the two really do feel different. Fairfax offers more urban-adjacent living, shorter commutes to D.C., and a denser mix of condos, townhouses, and established neighborhoods. Loudoun gives you more space for your dollar, newer construction options, and access to an outdoor lifestyle that Fairfax just can’t match. Both counties have excellent schools and strong resale value. The right fit really depends on your priorities: proximity versus space, city energy versus room to breathe. I work extensively in both, so I can help you think through the tradeoffs without steering you toward one or the other.
What is it actually like to live in Loudoun County?
Incredible. We get a bad rap for our data centers and long commutes to D.C., but it’s one of my favorite places on Earth. You’ve got charming small towns like Leesburg and Purcellville alongside newer, planned communities like Brambleton and Ashburn. There’s wine country, hiking trails, farm-to-table restaurants, and a genuine sense of community that’s hard to match. The schools are among the best in Virginia. The pace is a little slower in the best possible way. I live out in Lovettsville in the western part of the county, and I feel lucky about it every single day.
How do I know if I’m ready to buy a home?
Honestly, this is my favorite question to answer, because the answer is almost never purely financial. Yes, you want a handle on your credit, your savings, and what a monthly payment realistically looks like for your budget. But readiness is also about mindset. Are you ready to commit to a place for a few years? Do you have a sense of what you need in a home and a neighborhood, even if it’s still fuzzy? If the answer to those questions is mostly yes, you’re probably more ready than you think. The best thing you can do is have one honest conversation with an agent and a lender before you decide you’re not ready. Most people walk away from that conversation with a lot more clarity and a lot less dread.
